Orthanc.

This was a piece I was looking forward to building for some time. It was complex and challenging. Not as much as Barad-Dur, but still a challenge in its own way.

First is to spend time looking at the original model and start to get my head around it. This model was made up of repeated sections and all four sides were the same.

This meant that I would only need to build a quarter of it and then blend the sections together with a few added details such as stairs and all the display base details.

All the details were carved in strips of styrene building small detail sections that could be moulded and cast out in resin so I could start to assemble larger sections.

I was very happy with the final results.
